Located in the East Village of New York City, this duplex apartment is designed by Turett Collaborative Architects. With two one-bedroom units alike, one on top of another, the apartment stands on nearly two thousand five hundred square foot. This is a very special duplex two-bedroom penthouse as you will enjoy the option to tumble down speedily from the top floor with a custom-made sculptural slide!
Connecting smaller apartments collectively into a perfectly whole unit has been TCA’s specialty. The client’s unique request to combine two penthouse condos in a newly constructed multi-residential development in the East Village of New York City with a helical side truly becomes an extraordinary challenge. The alteration rejoins two 1-bedroom units alike, one on top of another into a duplex 2-bedroom home with two options. The first is to tumble down in the customary way on a new “Rintal” stair, made of Italy. The second one is to descend more speedily in a seated position, careening through the new double-height atrium. The half-tube stainless steel slide begins on the top floor close to the office, and lands below close to both the living and dining rooms. The sculptural slide is housed in a newly created 18’ tall double-height space, which contains custom designed glass railings. The representation of the stainless steel curves in front of the large window to the city beyond, is telling nothing but the irrepressible delight of grown adults on the slide. Further, the playground component is an unexpectedly elegant addition to the space with careful detailing.
